General Church Calendar

Important News:

BLOOD DRIVE: Our next blood drive is scheduled for next Sunday May 20th from 9:00am—2:00pm in fellowship Hall. Please call 1-800-RED CROSS to register, walk-ins are also welcome on the day of but registering before hand makes the process quicker. We hope you can help out those in need and donate blood!

LADIES’ ONLINE-BASED LIFE GROUP: For ladies whose lives at this point make committing weekly to an in-person life group rather difficult, a new group is being formed that will experiment with ways of connecting often online via Facebook and less frequently in-person. If you’re interested in finding out more, email Ruth Waite at ruthwaite59@gmail.com.

VBS 2018 REGISTRATION: Is now open! "Game On" - our 2018 Vacation Bible School will be occurring June 18-22, 6:00-8:30pm for kids 4 years old thru those entering 6th grade.  Registration is already open, so don't wait to sign up!  Go to our website: wherefriendsaremade.org and click on the VBS link.  It takes a lot of people to execute this crazy week of fun, so if you would like to join our team, email Laurie, lhurd@columbiaheightsumc.com.  We need help with snacks, science, crafts, recreation, music, and leading kids through the different stations.

SUMMER CALENDAR:  Since we are heading into the summer months, the office would really appreciate all ministry groups to please let us know if you will continue to meet over the summer within the church building.  This would include things like, Life Groups, Circles, Scouts, Basketball, or other regular meetings and events. We like to keep the calendar as accurate as possible for people who do need to use the building or that call into the office asking if an event is taking place. As you make those decisions, maybe it will also help you to begin thinking about your schedule for the Fall season.  New building use forms for ministries are available in the church office which we ask that you complete for your ministry group prior to September 2018 for next year.  If you have any questions about how to complete the form, please contact Kara Pratt, Office Administrator at kpratt@columbiaheightsumc.com or call the church office at 614-878-4530.  Thank you!  We hope you have time to rejuvenate and enjoy the summer!

SOFTBALL, VOLLEYBALL, ANYONE??? The church has multiple opportunities that come up each year to participate in adult sporting activities through different church leagues and other leagues around Columbus.  We often have people who would be excited to play, but we have a shortage of people willing to coach or lead teams for us.  If you are a coach or are interested in being one for Columbia Heights Church, please contact Suzie Smith-Rios at ssmithrios@columbiaheightsumc.com or call the church office.   Thank you so much!!

Friendly Reminders

ALTAR FLOWERS: You can order Altar flowers any time of the year, just fill out an Altar Flower form and return it to the office with your payment attached. Please have orders in by the Wednesday of the week you wish to have them displayed; this is to ensure your order is received in time to be written in the bulletin.

PRAYER REQUESTS: Prayer request sheets are available at the welcome desk, if you would like to take a copy home and include them in your prayers.

PRAYER AND COMMUNION: Weekly services of Prayer, Healing, and Communion are offered on Fridays at 7:00 pm in the chapel.

MILITARY SCRAPBOOK: Several years ago we made up a "Military Scrapbook" full of written or typed statements of people who had served in the Military. (You can see the scrapbook on the Library table.) We would like to bring that information up to date with your contributions. If you served in the Military or if you were a Military "Brat", please write your Military biography and put it loosely in the back of the Military Scrapbook. This is the information we would like to have (there are "blanks" on the Library table - you can take one and use it as a guideline): Date submitted, Name, Branch of Service, Years Served (active/reserve), Rank when left (or if still active/reserve), Job Descriptions, Where Served, & Interesting Personalities or Stories. If you have any questions please talk to Joyce Warner.

COOKBOOKS: If anyone has some old (or new) CHUM cookbooks that she (or he) would like to donate to the CHUM Archives, please put them on the table in the Library.
