TRUNK OR TREAT: Don’t forget that today at 3pm (10/15/2017) is our Trunk or Treat! So bring your little Ghouls and Goblins for a fun filled evening with lots of candy, food tastings, music, games, and more!
SOCK PROJECT: Our Bible Zone Kids are seeking donations of multipacks of socks and bottles of puff paint. On Sunday, November 26 (in honor of Thanksgiving) we would like to do a service project of making non-skid socks to donate to a local nursing home. Donations can be dropped off at the church office anytime between now and then.
BLOOD DRIVE: Our next blood drive will be on Sunday, October 22, from 9:00 am—2:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. To schedule an appointment call 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org, sponsor code: CHUMC. Walk in’s are welcome but registering is preferred.
DONUTS WITH THE PASTOR: The monthly meeting of the Senior’s Donuts with the Pastor will be suspended until we can determine a better format that fits people’s schedules and needs. Thank you everyone!—Pastor Nathan.
PRAYER SHAWL & QUILTERS: Prayer Shawl & Quilters will be meeting the first & third Saturday of each month in Fellowship Hall at 10am. For those who want to quilt you only need to bring: Needles, thread, small ruler, and pencils. All material will be provided.—Thanks, Suzi Pettis.
TURKEY DINNER & BAAZAR: Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help out with the Turkey Dinner. Please sign up if you haven’t done so all ready, we need everyone’s help to make this event successful. You will be contacted as to what you are helping with as we get closer to the day of the event. Sign up sheets are still available at the welcome desk in the front lobby if you wish to help out. Soon we will be holding sales for tickets, once we are closer to the date, but ticket prices will be: $8-adult, $5-youth(12-17), $3-Child(3-11) & free for under 3yrs old w/adult dine-in ticket. The Turkey dinner will be November 11 @ 4pm so spread the word, tell you neighbors, friends, family and share it on Facebook or any other social media sites.
PASTOR’S LIFE GROUP STUDY: Held at 1:30pm on Wednesdays, Pastor Nathan’s on-site Life Group at the church will start a new study at a new time. Using the Max Lucado video series that relates to the wonderful book, Traveling Light.
ONLINE LIFE GROUP: Held online via the Columbia Heights United Methodist Church Facebook page at noon on Wednesdays, Pastor Nathan will hold a lunch-break teaching time that will include material relating to his on-site LIFE Group study: how the 23rd Psalm teaches us ways God can help us to ‘travel light’ through life without all the emotional / relational / spiritual baggage that we can too easily accumulate.
GIVE BY TEXT: In less time than it takes to write a check, you can make weekly offerings or respond to special appeals by simply sending a text message from your smartphone. Stop by the church office or visit our website to learn more.
ALTAR FLOWERS: You can order Altar flowers any time of the year, just fill out an Altar Flower form and return it to the office with your payment attached. Please have orders in by the Wednesday of the week you wish to have them displayed; this is to ensure your order is received in time to be written in the bulletin.
PRAYER REQUESTS: Prayer request sheets are available at the welcome desk, if you would like to take a copy home and include them in your prayers.
PRAYER AND COMMUNION: Weekly services of Prayer, Healing, and Communion are offered on Fridays at 7:00 pm in the chapel.
