Children

We love Families and Kids!  Just as Jesus invited the little children to come to him, we also count it a privilege to be able to serve our little ones and show them that same love.  Our desire at Columbia Heights is to welcome new families and to provide an environment that kids will enjoy coming to on Sunday mornings and at other fun family opportunities.

Sunday Mornings:  After stopping at our Check-In cart located at the northwest corner of the church (follow the ceiling signs and painted birch tree hallway which leads you directly to the Preschool entrance of the church), let us know you're here and to pick up your security stickers, children then go to the area specific to their age, which differs slightly depending on which service you attend. (Further instructions below broken down by service times and ages of children.)

During our 9:00 service -- our preschool and elementary age program is called Bible Zone 9.0. Those kiddos who are 3, 4, & 5 years old will be in our Preschool Room B (near the check in cart) for their own special teaching time and play.  Grades 1 through 5 all gather in the Chapel for a video Bible story, then engage in more teaching and some fun small group activities.  If you are interested in volunteering in a monthly rotation of teachers, please contact Carol Saylor for Preschool age at chamsaylor@aol.com or Amy Sheriff for Elementary age at samalie61@yahoo.com to join.

During our 10:30 service -- Bible Zone 10.3  is For kids 4 years old and up.  We have a puppet curriculum that is super fun and engaging for the children.  Adult puppeteers provide a bible based show for the kids and then they interact with each other through a group activity or craft.  If you are interested in helping with the puppet ministry, please contact Joni Cabanillas at jonquilwc@aol.com to join.

Nursery care is provided for children ages 0-2 years old during both services in a fun room full of toys!  Changing facilities are available, along with a toddler-sized adjoining bathroom for those who are potty-training.  Our caregivers have undergone an application process and background check, and the doors have mirrored glass to make it easy for parents to peek in and check on little ones.

Overflow area:  If you are nursing or prefer to have your little ones with you in the services and you find you need a little quite space, we have a comfortable space for you to hold your baby and still listen to the sermon on speakers.  This area is located in the new Youth room adjoining the kitchen and conveniently located between the family life center contemporary worship space and the main sanctuary.  Please ask one of our ushers or greeters to help you if you need assistance.  We are happy to answer any questions you may have or provide any help needed.
