We love our kids! Just as Jesus invited the little children to come to him, we also count it a privilege to be able to serve our little ones and show them that same love. Our desire at Columbia Heights is to welcome new families and to provide an environment that kids will enjoy coming to on Sunday mornings and at other opportunities.
Sunday Mornings: After stopping at our Check-In cart to let us know you're here and to pick up your security stickers, children then go to the area specific to their age, which may differ based on service time. Nursery care is provided for children ages 0-2 years old during both services in a fun room full of toys! Changing facilities are available, along with a toddler-sized adjoining bathroom for those who are potty training. Our caregivers have undergone an application process and background check, and the doors have mirrored glass to make it easy for parents to peek in and check on little ones.
During our 9:00 service, our preschool and elementary program is called Bible Zone 9.0. Those kiddos who are 3, 4 & 5 years old will be in Room D for their own special teaching time and play. Grades 1 through 5 all start out in the Chapel for a large group time which includes a video Bible story, then split into 2 smaller groups (based on age) for more teaching and to engage in some fun small group activities.
During our 10:30 service -- Bible Zone 10.3 -- kids from 0 through kindergarten are welcomed to play in the nursery. The older ones in that group will have a brief Bible story led by our volunteers at some point within the hour. Elementary kids in grades 1 through 5 will meet in Room B for a teaching time based on Phil Vischer's "What Is A Christian," a study of 1 John.
